Farewell, Moon. #Apollo17 lifted off the lunar surface #OTD in 1972, bringing a successful end to the Apollo program. The astronauts spent nearly 22 hrs outside their lander, drove 22 mi (35 km) in their lunar rover, and collected 243 lbs (110 kg) of samples during a mission that lasted about 302 hrs (12.6 days).
